Borrowed Bean Soup Recipe
- 1 pound pinto beans or possibly northern beans
- 1 pound split peas
- 12 c. water
- 1 lg. onion, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 2 tbsp. salt
- 8 c. tomato juice
- ham-hocks">Ham hock and diced ham
- 2 tbsp. chili pwdr
- 1 green pepper, diced
- Soak beans and peas in water for 5 hrs.
- Add in the rest of the ingredients to beans and simmer 3 hrs minimum.
