Avis June's Chocolate Gravy Recipe

  1. Hot or possibly bake croissants as necessary.
  2. Meanwhile, in a 2-qt or possibly larger saucepan, stir together sugar, flour, cocoa pwdr and salt.
  3. Place pot over medium heat; gradually add in lowfat milk, whisking constantly till well-blended and smooth.
  4. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, till the sauce is thickened, about 5 to 6 min.
  5. Reduce heat to low.
  6. Add in butter; stir till melted and well-blended.
  7. Remove pan from heat; stir in vanilla.
  8. Cut croissants in half.
  9. Serve 1/4 c. sauce over each hot croissant half.
  10. Garnish each plate with 4 strawberries, whole or possibly sliced.
  11. Yield: 8 servings.
  12. Comments: Fresh pineapple chunks or possibly raspberries can be substituted for strawberries.
  13. Biscuits or possibly crescent rolls can be used instead of croissants.
  14. Leftover sauce may be refrigerated for a week and reheated in the microwave.
