Billy's Favorite Salad
- 12 cups red leaf lettuce, washed and chopped into bite size pieces
- 2 plum tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced
- 2 stalks celery, washed and cut into 1/2 inch peices
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup alfalfa sprout
- 4 ounces walnuts, toasted
- 4 ounces gorgonzola, crumbled
- 4 ounces dried cherries
- Assemble individual plates in the order ingredients are listed.
- Be sure to toast the walnuts.
- I put mine in the toaster oven for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees.
- When you can smell them, they are done but keep an eye on them as they can burn easily.
- Use your favorite vinaigrette.
- We prefer good seasons prepared the "reduced oil" method.
- Directions are on the packet to reduce the oil.
