taisen's pot roast in a crockpot

  1. put the roast into the crockpot
  2. sprinkle meat tenderizer , seasoning salt , pepper and a touch of garlic on the meat.
  3. i also poke holes in the meat with a fork before doing this.
  4. you can also use it as a rub if you like.
  5. peel and chop up onion or omit the extra onion.
  6. I am an onion lover!
  7. get a bowl or measuring cup.
  8. add two packs of each Lipton soup.
  9. add water and mix VERY well.
  10. you can add a third or fourth pack if you want more.
  11. I add enough liquid to totally cover the roast
  12. slowly add the liquid into the crockpot.
  13. add more water into the bowl or measuring cup mixing any powder or residue left and add to the roast
  14. add in about half of the beef broth.
  15. reserve rest for gravy.
  16. mix the liquid around the roast lightly making sure there is no un dissolved powder.
  17. cover put the crockpot on high and let it simmer and cook for at least 4 hours
  18. you can add butter at ANY time or omit it
  19. depending on how big the piece of meat is will determine how long you cook this and when you add in veggies
  20. I add my peeled and sliced potatoes about 2 to 3 hours before this is finished cooking.
  21. this also depends on how thick you slice them.
  22. the thinner/smaller they are the faster they cook.
  23. potatoes will get mushy if you add them to soon.
  24. I cook my roast on high from about 12 pm until 3 or 4 pm on high then switch it to low
  25. add in carrots and mushrooms about an hour before it is ready unless you like them less firm.
  26. if using mushrooms in the gravy reserve them
  27. using a spoon you should be able to tell if the meat falls apart or not.
  28. this is more soupy but lets thicken!

  30. take a saucepan put it on the stove.
  31. add in reserved beef broth.
  32. add some juices from the crockpot !
  33. this can be done half and half or just the juices.
  34. your choice.
  35. if using mushrooms in the gravy add them to this to cook them down a bit.
  36. you want them to shrink to a smaller size.
  37. you can fry them in a bit of butter first or boil them in the juices first to your liking.
  38. take a bowl mix up milk and flour or cornstarch.
  39. mix very well.
  40. add the milk/flour/cornstarch into the liquid slowly while stirring.
  41. make it as thick as you like
  42. take out the roast when fully cooked and falling apart by spoon!
  43. shred or cut into pieces onto a plate.
  44. add veggies on the side or on top.
  45. put some gravy over top of it all.
  46. serve with rolls butter bread or anything else like rice or noodles.
  47. enjoy
