Feastive Tossed Salad
- 12 cup sugar
- 13 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons onions, chopped
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 23 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 10 cups romaine lettuce, torn
- 1 cup swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 medium apple, cubed
- 1 medium pear, cubed
- 14 cup dried cranberries (or cran-raisins)
- 12-1 cup pecans
- Dressing:
- In blender combine sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, onion and salt.
- Cover and process.
- With blender running, add oil.
- Add poppy seeds and blend.
- Pour into container and chill.
- Salad:.
- In large bowl combine lettuce, cheese, apple, pear and cranberries.
- Drizzle with desired amount of dressing.
- Add nuts.
- Toss and serve immediately.
