Five Spice Chicken Burgers
- 2 Tbsp. light soy sauce
- 2 tsp. lemon juice
- 2 beaten egg whites
- 3 Tbsp. seasoned fine bread crumbs
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 c. nonfat mayonnaise
- lettuce leaves
- 1 Tbsp. catsup
- 1 tsp. 5 spice powder (salt, pepper, paprika, oregano and thyme)
- 2 Tbsp. sliced green onions
- 1 lb. ground raw chicken
- 4 kaiser rolls or hamburger buns, split and toasted
- Combine soy sauce, catsup, lemon juice and spices.
- Reserve 1 tablespoon of mixture.
- Combine remaining soy mixture, egg whites, bread crumbs, onions, garlic and salt.
- Add ground chicken.
- Mix well.
- Shape into 4 (3/4-inch) patties.
- Preheat broiler.
- Place patties on the ungreased, unheated rack of broiler pan.
- Broil 3 to 4 inches from heat for 6 minutes.
- Turn patties; broil 6 to 8 minutes more until no longer pink in middle.
- Combine reserved soy mixture and mayo.
- Serve patties in buns with lettuce leaves.
- Top with seasoned mayonnaise.
- Makes 4 servings.
