Beer Burgers With Spicy Tomato Mushroom Relish Recipe

  5. Heat the onion, garlic and oil in a saute/fry pan over medium heat; cook till translucent/soft.
  6. Stir in mushrooms (we called for shiitake mushrooms, but just about any variety will work) and cook till soft, about 4 min.
  7. 2 Stir in the tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds.
  8. Stir in the tomatoes, chili flakes, and sugar.
  9. Stir in 1/2 of the beer and bring to a simmer; cook till moisture has evaporated, about 20 min.
  10. 3 Combine the beef, Worcestershire sauce, and half the salt and pepper in a large bowl.
  11. While mixing the meat, add in the remaining beer as needed.
  12. Drink the rest.
  13. Shape the meat into 4** equal balls.
  14. 4 Flatten the balls with your palms.
  15. Use your thumbs to shape the sides.
  16. The patties should be of an even 1-inch thickness.
  17. Broil burgers to desired degree of doneness, 5-6 min for medium.
  18. 5 Adjust the seasoning of the relish with remaining salt and pepper.
  19. Place each burger on a bun and serve with the tomato relish and fixin's of your choice.
