Chicken with Green Onion, Butter and Soy Sauce
- 1 Chicken breast
- 1 dash Salt
- 1 dash Pepper
- 1 Katakuriko
- 1 bunch Green onion
- 1 clove Garlic - finely chopped
- 1 thumbnail's worth Finely chopped ginger
- 1 Sliced red chili peppers
- 1/2 tbsp Sake
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 dash Salt
- 1 dash Pepper
- 15 grams Butter
- 1 Lemon wedges
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces with an even thickness.
- Lightly season with salt, pepper and katakuriko.
- Remove the roots from the green onion and cut into 2 cm lengths.
- Heat half of the butter in a frying pan and fry the chicken from Step 1.
- Continue until the chicken is cooked through to the middle, then transfer to a serving plate.
- Heat the remaining butter in the frying pan, fry the garlic and ginger, then add the green onion.
- Season with sake, soy sauce and salt and pepper.
- Top the chicken with the green onion mixture from Step 4, and drizzle on some lemon juice.
- This is the green onion I used.
- Soak the onion roots from Step 2 in water, and you can grow your own.
- Change the water daily.
- Here are the roots from Step 7, about ten days later.
- There is enough to use in 2 - 3 servings of miso soup.
