Summertime Peaches or Figs in Spiced Sauterne Wine

  1. In a small saucepan, heat together sauterne, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Do not boil.
  4. Stir in spices.
  5. Put the figs or peaches in a deep bowl and pour the wine mixture over them.
  6. Macerate in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  7. Divide fruit between bowls, pouring the wine mixture over them.
  8. Garnish with a sprig of thyme or mint.
