Jan's Caramels

  1. * Put Karo Syrup, Sugar, & Salt in a large heavy bottom Sauce pan.
  2. Stir occasionally to keep from burning.
  3. Heat to 245 degrees.
  4. Watch Carefully!
  5. * Add Butter & Whipping cream & Carefully Heat to 242 degrees.
  6. Watch Carefully * Take off stove immediately.
  7. * Add Vanilla & nuts.
  8. * Pour into Buttered Cookie sheet with sides.
  9. * Cut with a sharp knife when it is just above room temp.
  10. * Wrap in Wax paper squares.
