Barbecued Spareribs
- 1 baby back rib rack, cut in half crosswise (about 1 lb.)
- 12 cup hoisin sauce
- 14 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 14 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Trim any excess fat from ribs.
- In a dish large enough to hold ribs, mix together hoisin, soy, sesame oil, five spice powder, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
- Add ribs and rub to coat all over with marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 6 hours.
- Remove from refrigerator at least one hour before cooking.
- Preheat oven to 450*.
- Cook ribs on a rack 25-30 minutes until meat is tender and there is no trace of pink near bone.
- Or grill ribs on a covered outdoor grill over ashy coals 20-25 minutes, turning every 3 minutes to cook evenly.
- Serve as part of a chinese meal.
