Tamale Pie From Arizona Recipe

  1. Saute/fry grnd beef, onion and garlic in large skillet over medium heat, till beef is no longer pink.
  2. Drain off fat, stir in chili pwdr, cumin, salt, tomatoes (break up with fork) with juice of corn and tomatoes.
  3. Simmer uncovered for about 15 min or possibly till thickened.
  4. Stir in raisins and olives.
  5. Pour in casserole dish.
  6. In large saucepan, bring water to boil and slowly pour corn meal in pan.
  7. Stir constantly, till thickened.
  8. Spread corn meal mix over meat mix in baking dish.
  9. Bake uncovered for 35 min more.
  10. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake 5-10 min more till cheese is melted and bubbly.
