Crockpot Split Pea Soup
- 2 cup dried green split peas
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 stalks of celery, sliced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 large ham hocks
- 2 quart water
- 1 cup mashed potatoes, opt
- Wash and sort split peas.
- Add everything to crockpot except for mashed potatoes.
- Cook on low for six to eight hours.
- When veggies are tender, take out ham hocks, remove meat, and add meat to soup.
- Add mashed potatoes to soup to thicken.
- If you do not have mashed potatoes, you can puree two cups of soup when warm.
