Oven BBQ Tofu

  1. First you will need to freeze the tofu a couple of days before you make this.
  2. Make sure that it gets frozen all the way through.
  3. Then I just pull it out of the freezer the morning that Im going to make it.
  4. This helps the tofu to hold together better and not crumble apart.
  5. You can buy extra firm, but its still best to freeze it.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Take a baking sheet and spread about 1/4 cup of oil on it or less.
  7. You just want there to be a thin layer of oil.
  8. If you want to go healthier, you can use cooking spray instead.
  9. Cut your tofu into 1/3-1/2 inch slices.
  10. Make sure you squeeze out as much of the liquid as possible from it.
  11. Set your tofu aside.
  12. Gather up the rest of your ingredients (except the BBQ sauce) and put them together in a bowl.
  13. Whisk these together until the mixture is smooth.
  14. Now its time for the sauce to meet the tofu.
  15. You can pour it over the tofu or do what I do and dump the tofu in the sauce youve made.
  16. Push the strips into the sauce and make sure that you completely cover them with the sauce.
  17. When your tofu is ready, lay it out in a single layer on your baking sheet.
  18. Bake the tofu for about 25 minutes.
  19. Then pull it out and flip it over.
  20. The bottoms should be slightly browned.
  21. Now take your BBQ sauce and brush some over the top of the tofu.
  22. Put it back in the oven and bake another 25 minutes.
  23. Pull it out and flip it over again.
  24. Put BBQ sauce on the top again, which will be the side that doesnt have sauce on it!
  25. Put it back in the oven and bake it for about 15 minutes.
  26. Pull it out and you are done!
