The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

  1. Sift flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt into a medium bowl.
  2. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and shortening on low speed for 3 minutes.
  4. Add granulated sugar and beat for 2 minutes.
  5. Add light brown sugar and beat for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Blend in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Mix in vanilla extract.
  8. On low speed, gradually add dry ingredients in 3 batches.
  9. Fold in chocolate chunks and/or chocolate chips.
  10. Refrigerate batter for at least 2 hours.
  11. Scoop onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  12. Bake for 7-9 minutes in a preheated 325 degree oven.
  13. Cool on cookie sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling racks.
  14. Enjoy!
