5 Ingredient German-Style Beef Roast

  1. Trim any excess fat from the roast.
  2. Place in a 4-quart Dutch oven.
  3. In a bowl stir together beer and ketchup.
  4. Pour over roast.
  5. Bake, covered, in a 325 degree F oven for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.
  6. Remove roast from Dutch oven.
  7. Cover meat; let stand while finishing sauce.
  8. Meanwhile, stir brown sugar and pepper into the sauce.
  9. Bring sauce to boiling; reduce heat.
  10. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  11. Slice roast.
  12. Skim fat from sauce and serve with the meat.
