Beignet Au Fromage Recipe
- 2 1/2 ounce Gruyere cheese
- 2 1/2 ounce Emmenthaler cheese
- 1 x Egg
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. Lowfat milk
- 1 x Clove garlic
- 1/3 c. Plain flour
- 1 tsp Baking pwdr Salt, pepper
- 12 slc square white bread Oil for deep frying
- Step l. Grate cheeses, put into small bowl of electric mixer.
- Add in egg, lowfat milk, crushed garlic, sifted flour and baking pwdr, salt and pepper.
- Beat on medium speed 5 min.
- Step 2.
- Remove crusts from bread.
- Spread about 2 Tbsp.
- of mix on to each slice of bread, right to outer edges.
- Cut each slice into four squares.
- (If bread is fresh remove crusts after you have spread the cheese mix; the crusts hold the bread hard).
- Step 3. put in warm oil, cheese - side down; fry till golden on both sides about 2 min, turning once.
- Drain on absorbent paper.
