Apple and Pecan Turnovers

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Roll out pastry on lightly floured surface to 14-inch square.
  3. Cut into 9 equal squares.
  4. Mix cream cheese and sugar with wooden spoon.
  5. Add apples and pecans; mix well.
  6. Spoon evenly onto centres of pastry squares.
  7. Brush edges of pastry with egg.
  8. Fold each square diagonally in half to form triangle; press edges together until completely sealed.
  9. Brush with remaining egg.
  10. Bake 10 minutes.
  11. Reduce oven temperature to 375F.
  12. Continue baking 10 minutes or until turnovers are slightly puffed and golden brown.
  13. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
