Chocolate Cran Krispies Recipe eag4
- 5 cups rice cereal
- 1 stick of butter or 1/2 cup
- 1 package of large marshmallows
- 11/2 cups dried cranberries or craisins
- 1 12 oz package of milk chocolate chips
- 1 large (4.25 oz) dark chocolate bar
- 3 cups chopped pecans
- orange oil or zest
- (These are basic rice krispie directions.)
- In a large bowl combine cranberries and rice cereal.
- Melt butter in a large stock pot over low-medium heat, add marshmallows and stir until melted.
- Turn off the heat and add the cran-cereal mixture.
- Combine quickly and thoroughly.
- Turn onto a 9x13 baking sheet/pan lined with waxed paper or lightly sprayed with cooking spray.
- Spread it evenly and pack it down.
- Let cool for about 15 minutes.
- In a double boiler melt milk and dark chocolate and add 3-5 drops of orange oil or a tablespoon of orange zest.
- Once melted and smooth poor over the treats in the pan and spread evenly as best as you can.
- This doesnt have to be perfect and the chocolate does not need to touch all the edges.
- Spread chopped pecans over the top.
- Let cool until the chocolate loses its sheen.
- The best way to cut these is with a pizza cutter.
- Store in ziplock bags or a container because they will go stale out in the open.
