Candy Apples

  1. In a heavy, deep 3-quart saucepan over medium heat, add sugar, corn syrup, candies, water and food coloring.
  2. Bring to a boil. Cook without stirring about 20 minutes or 290u0b0.
  3. Meanwhile, insert skewers into apples part way through each of them.
  4. Grease a cookie sheet.
  5. When syrup is ready, remove pan from heat and swirl apples in hot syrup to coat completely.
  6. Work fast so syrup doesn't harden on you.
  7. Place them on cookie sheets to cool.
  8. If syrup does harden before you're finished, just place it back on the stove for a few minutes on a low flame.
  9. Cool apples for 1 hour before serving.
