Kim's Split Pea Soup

  1. Heat water, broth, bullion cubes and peas to a boil in a soup pot.
  2. (I use a cast iron dutch oven as it burns really easy).
  3. Boil for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let sit 1 hour.
  5. Stir, onion, salt and pepper into peas.
  6. Heat to boiling, reduce heat.
  7. Cover and simmer until peas or tender.
  8. About 1 hours, stirring frequently as it will burn on the bottom.
  9. Add ham, carrots, and celery.
  10. Bring to boil, reduce heat.
  11. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender.
