French Toast Casserole

  1. Place the bread cubes into a greased 3-quart shallow baking dish.
  2. Beat the eggs, milk and vanilla extract in a medium bowl with a fork or whisk.
  3. Pour the milk mixture over the bread cubes.
  4. Stir and press the bread cubes into the milk mixture to coat.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight.
  6. Heat the oven to 350F Uncover the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Sprinkle with the confectioners' sugar.
  9. Serve with the syrup, if desired.
