Mary's Spaghetti Sauce Italian Style Recipe
- 1 1/2 lbs. grnd round
- 1 lg. onion
- 1 (15 ounce.) can tomato sauce with 2 c. water
- 1 med. jar Ragu meat flavored spaghetti sauce
- 1/4 pkg. French's spaghetti sauce mix, Italian style
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 tbsp. spaghetti sauce seasoning (I use Spice Island brand)
- 3/4 teaspoon grnd fennel
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 1 1/2 lbs. grnd chuck
- 1 (32 ounce.) can tomato juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoon garlic pwdr or possibly 4 pressed garlic buds
- 3 bay leaves or possibly 3/4 teaspoon grnd bay leaf
- In a large pot, brown grnd beef with onion.
- Drain well and add in garlic, fennel, spaghetti sauce seasoning, oregano, spaghetti sauce and mix.
- Stir.
- Add in tomato juice, tomato sauce, Ragu and bring to simmering stage; add in vinegar, sugar and bay leaf.
- Simmer at least 3 hrs, uncovered; the longer it cooks the better.
- Serve over spaghetti and top with Parmesan cheese.
