Children's Chocolate Cake Mix

  1. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Stir with a wire wisk until blended.
  3. With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until evenly distributed and mixture resembles corn meal.
  4. Spoon about 1/3 cup of the mixture into each of 11 small containers with tight fitting lids or zip lock bags.
  5. Seal containers.
  6. Label with date and contents.
  7. Store in a cool dry place.
  8. Use within 12 weeks.
  9. Makes 11 packages Children's Chocolate Cake Mix for Easybake style oven.
  10. To use: To one container of mix add 4 teaspoons water.
  11. Stir with a fork or spoon until blended and smooth.
  12. Pour mixture into greased and floured 4-inch round miniature baking pan.
  13. Follow directions for childs oven or bake in Mom's preheated 375f ovenfor 12 to 13 minutes.
  14. Remove from oven and cool in pan on a rack for 5 minutes.
  15. Invert onto asmal plate and remove pan.
  16. When cool frost with Children's Chocolate Frosting.
  17. if desired.
  18. Serves 2 children.
  19. Children's Chocolate Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk powder ans cocoa powder.
  20. (Sift cocoa if lumpy.)
  21. With a pastry blender, cut in the shortening.
  22. Spoon about 1/3 cup of mixture into each of 9 small containers or ziplock bags and seal tightly.
  23. Label with date and contents.
  24. Sore in a cool dry place.
  25. Use within 12 weeks.
  26. Makes 9 packages Children's Chocolate Frosting.
  27. To use: 1 pkg.
  28. Children's Chocolate Frosting.
  29. Mix 3/4 teaspoon waterIn a small bowl combine Children's Chocolate Frosting and water.
  30. Stir with a spoon until smooth.
  31. Makes about 1/4 cup.
