Brats with Caramelized Onions
- 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Or As Needed
- 1 whole Sweet Onion Sliced And Chopped
- 1 dash Salt And Cracked Pepper, To Taste
- 6 whole Johnsonville Original Brats
- 6 Sandwich Rolls
- 2 Tablespoons Chopped Raw Onions (or About 1 Teaspoon Per Serving)
- Sauerkraut, To Serve
- Sweet Pickle Relish, To Serve
- Yellow Mustard, To Serve
- Ketchup, To Serve
- Heat the oil in a pan or skillet.
- When the oil is hot, add the chopped sweet onions with salt and pepper.
- Cook for a few minutes until the onions are slightly translucent.
- Add the brats to the pan and sear until golden brown for a nice outer crust.
- Turn the heat down to low and simmer until the onions have turned caramel brown and the sausages have cooked through.
- Ever so slightly, toast the rolls, careful not to over-toast in that they will be too crisp and difficult to eat.
- Place the brats into the rolls and dress with raw onions, sauerkraut, sweet pickle relish, mustard and ketchup, or your own personal favorites.
- Serve immediately with some tasty beverages.
