Polish Bread/Sweet Bread Recipe
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 2/3 c. scalded cold lowfat milk
- 2/3 c. or possibly little less sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 4 Large eggs
- 4 1/2 c. flour or possibly more
- 1 c. raisins
- Dissolve yeast in a c. with the hot water.
- Pour the scalded lowfat milk over the sugar, salt and butter in a large bowl.
- Let cold till lukewarm, then stir in the yeast.
- Add in Large eggs and about 1/2 of flour.
- Beat thoroughly with a large whisk or possibly wooden spoon.
- Stir in the rest of the flour and raisins.
- Turn dough out onto floured board and knead 10 min.
- Put in a bowl, let rise till double.
- Turn out on floured board again.
- Knead a couple of min.
- Shape into a ball, put into a greased baking pan 3 inches deep by 8 inch diameter.
- Let rise till double, then bake at 350 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour.
