Tofu Steak Wrapped in Sliced Pork using Frozen Tofu
- 300 grams Firm tofu (Frozen in the original package)
- 150 grams Thinly sliced pork belly
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/2 packet Shimeji mushrooms
- 8 leaves Shiso leaves
- 2 tbsp Sake
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp Grated garlic
- 1 Katakuriko
- Thaw the frozen tofu at room temperature.
- After thawing, dice into bite sizes (about 16 pieces).
- Drain with kitchen paper.
- Slice the onion and discard the stiff roots of shimeji mushrooms.
- Mix the seasonings.
- Halve the shiso leaves and pork slices if too long.
- Put a shiso leave and piece of tofu on a pork slice and roll up.
- After rolling, coat with katakuriko.
- Heat a little oil in a frying pan.
- Fry onion and shimeji mushrooms.
- When wilted take them out and set aside.
- In the same frying pan place the rolled tofu and meat with sealed edge down and fry over a low to medium heat.
- After the pork is cooked through return the onion and shimeji mushrooms to the frying pan.
- Reduce the heat to low and pour in the ingredients.
- By gently moving the frying pan roll the meat, reduce the sauce until thickened and serve.
- Done .
