Colonial Innkeeper'S Pie
- 1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 c. water
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. soft margarine
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. milk
- Melt chocolate in water.
- Add 2/3 cup sugar and bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup butter or margarine and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.
- Set sauce aside.
- Mix and stir flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
- Add margarine, vanilla and milk. Beat 2 minutes.
- Add 1 egg and beat 2 more minutes.
- Pour into unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
- Pour sauce over batter and sprinkle top with 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts.
- Bake 55 to 60 minutes at 350u0b0. Serve with whipped cream.
