Colonial Innkeeper'S Pie

  1. Melt chocolate in water.
  2. Add 2/3 cup sugar and bring to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup butter or margarine and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.
  4. Set sauce aside.
  5. Mix and stir flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
  6. Add margarine, vanilla and milk. Beat 2 minutes.
  7. Add 1 egg and beat 2 more minutes.
  8. Pour into unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
  9. Pour sauce over batter and sprinkle top with 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts.
  10. Bake 55 to 60 minutes at 350u0b0. Serve with whipped cream.
