Slow Cooked Chili Macaroni
- 1 14 lbs lean ground beef
- 14 12 ounces canned no-salt-added diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 medium garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon ground cumin
- 12 teaspoon oregano leaves, dried
- 14 teaspoon black pepper
- 14 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
- 2 cups whole wheat macaroni, cooked
- Crumble beef into skillet with onions.
- Brown.
- Add remaining ingredients including macaroni.
- Cook on medium heat, reduce heat to simmer, cover for 1 hour stirring occasionally.
- For slow cooker: Crumble ground beef into slow cooker.
- Add remaining ingredients except pasta.
- Cover and cook on low 4 hours.
- Stir in cooked pasta.
- Cover and cook on low 1 additional hour.
- You can substitute ground turkey for beef for lower saturated fat.
