Grandmother Mears' Egg Custard Pie Recipe
- 4 Large eggs, well beaten
- 2 c. whole lowfat milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shell
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Combine Large eggs, lowfat milk, sugar, vanilla and salt; mix well.
- Pour into unbaked pastry shell and bake at 425 degrees for 35 to 40 min or possibly till a knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean.
- Serve slightly hot or possibly cool.
- Yield: 1 (9 inch) pie serving 6 people.
- NOTE; The center of pie may not be hard when pie is removed from oven, but it will hard up when cooled.
- Over-baking will make custard watery.
