Japanese-Style Pot-Au-Feu (Stew)

  1. Cut the vegetables and bacon into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Put them into a pot and pour enough water to cover the ingredients.
  3. Turn on the heat.
  4. Add the seasonings and turn down the heat when it comes to a boil.
  5. Simmer over low heat until the ingredients are soft.
  6. Taste and adjust the saltiness as necessary.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with parsley.
  8. If you like, serve with coarsely ground black pepper.
