Danish Meatballs
- 1 cup loosely packed fresh bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 9 oz (250g) ground pork
- 9 oz (250g) ground turkey or chicken
- 1 onion, grated
- All purpose flour, for shaping
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Lemon wedges, to serve
- Mix the bread crumbs, and milk in a medium bowl and let stand 5 minutes.
- Mix in the egg, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Add the pork, turkey, and onion and mix with your hands until combined.
- With lightly floured hands, shape into about 16 balls.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs and cook, turning often, for 810 minutes, until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot, with lemon wedges.
