Best Meat Loaf Recipe
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Dash pepper
- 2 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pound pork shoulder, grnd
- 1 pound veal shoulder, grnd
- 5 to 6 strips bacon
- Set oven for moderate, 350 degrees.
- Combine first 6 ingredients.
- Let stand 5 min.
- Add in onion and meat; mix well.
- Line a loaf pan, 8 x 5 x 3 inches, with bacon across the width of pan.
- Pack meat mix into pan.
- Bake 1 1/2 hrs.
- Remove from oven.
- Invert meat loaf on baking sheet; lift off pan; raise oven temperature to very warm, 450 degrees.
- Return meat loaf to oven for about 10 min to crisp bacon.
- Makes 6 to 8 servings.
