Lasagna with Meat Sauce
- 1 pound Ground Turkey Or Ground Beef
- 1/2 pounds Ground Italian Sausage
- 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 1 can (28 Oz. Size) Whole Tomatoes
- 1 can (12 Oz. Size) Tomato Paste
- 1- 1/2 Tablespoon Fresh Basil, Minced
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Pepper
- 2 cups Cottage Cheese
- 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese, Divided
- 16 ounces, weight Grated Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 box (about 12 To 16 Oz. Size) Lasagna Noodles, Cooked And Drained
- Brown ground turkey and sausage in a large pan over medium heat.
- Drain any excess fat and add the garlic to the pan.
- Saute 1 minute.
- Add tomatoes and tomato paste.
- Slightly break apart the tomatoes as you stir.
- Stir in basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- In a bowl, stir together cottage cheese, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, and grated mozzarella cheese.
- In an ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan, alternate layers of sauce, noodles, and cheese, starting with a little sauce on the bottom.
- End with a layer of sauce and sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
- Note: This recipe can easily be frozen after assembly then thawed and baked as directed!
