Deep Dish Taco Squares Recipe
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 2/3 c. mayonnaise
- 1 onion, minced
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 c. Bisquick baking mix plus 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. lowfat sour cream (I use plain yogurt)
- 1-2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 pkg. taco seasoning
- 1-2 med. tomatoes, minced
- 1/2 c. minced green pepper or possibly chilies to taste
- I make a recipe of biscuit dough: 2 c. flour, 3 tsp.
- baking pwdr, 1/2 tsp.
- salt, 1/4 c. shortening, and 3/4 c. lowfat milk.
- Heat oven to 375 degrees.
- Brown beef, add in onion, saute/fry, add in taco seasoning and water.
- Make up biscuit dough.
- Pat into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
- Pressing dough 1/2 inch up sides, layer beef, minced tomatoes, green pepper.
- Mix mayonnaise and lowfat sour cream, pour over top and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake till edges are light brown, 25-30 min.
- Serves 6.
- I omit peppers and use fresh green chilies.
- My family doesn't like spicy foods or possibly green pepper!
