Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef, browned and drained
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage, browned and drained
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 12 teaspoons salt
- 1 -2 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 cups vegetable juice cocktail (like V-8)
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- In large dutch oven brown meats, drain off fat.
- Add seasonings and corn starch, tomato sauce, tomato paste and V-8 juice to browned ground meats.
- Simmer on medium low heat for 30 minutes.
- Serve over cooked pasta.
- Can be used as sauce for lasagna.
- Note: For those on reduced sodium diets, replace salt with salt substitute or Mrs Dash Garlic & Herb seasoning mix; replace sauces and juice with available low sodium products.
- Splenda sugar substitute may be used in place of sugar.
