Broccoli Rabe With Italian Sausage

  1. Place the sausage in a 9-inch pie plate, and cover with a paper towel.
  2. Cook at 100 percent power in a high-power oven for 11 minutes.
  3. Remove from oven and uncover.
  4. Pour off liquid and set aside.
  5. Place the broccoli rabe in a 14-by-9-by-2-inch oval dish.
  6. Toss with the olive oil and red-pepper flakes, if using.
  7. Cover tightly with microwave plastic wrap.
  8. Cook for 8 minutes.
  9. Prick plastic to release steam.
  10. Remove from oven and uncover.
  11. Stir in salt, pepper and cooked sausage.
  12. Serve alone or over cooked pasta.
