Old Fashioned Roast Turkey(Or Breast Of Turkey)
- 1 (14 to 16 lb.) turkey or turkey breast
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 2 tsp. seasoning salt
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp. basil
- 1 to 2 c. water
- Rinse turkey quickly
- and
- pat
- dry.
- Reserve
- neck and giblets for gravy.
- Brush
- turkey
- with small amount of melted butter.
- Combine seasonings and
- use amount needed on skin and cavity (to taste).
- Add 1 to
- 2 cups water.
- Cover and bake at 350u0b0 for 3 to 4 hours.
- If
- not
- brown,
- remove cover and bake for 30 more minutes at
- 300u0b0.
- Cover
- turkey
- on
- platter with foil to let it absorb
- juices.
- It
- can
- then
- be stuffed with herbed seasoning such
- as
- Pepperidge Farm stuffing mixed with celery and sauteed chopped onion.
