Fourth of July Bean, Bacon and Beef Casserole
- 1/2 pound beef ground
- 1/2 pound bacon sliced and diced
- 1 cup onions chopped
- 28 ounces pork and beans, 1 can
- 17 ounces lima beans, canned 1 can, rinsed and drained
- 15 ounces kidney beans, canned rinsed and drained, 1 can
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup sugar or sugar replacement
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, light
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
- In a large skillet, cook beef, bacon and onion over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is tender, drain.
- Transfer to a greased 2 1/2 qt.
- baking dish, add all of the beans and mix well.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients, stir into beef and bean mixture.
- Cover with foil paper and bake for 45 minutes.
- Uncover, bake another 15 minutes.
- Cool for a few minutes, serve warm.
