Dianne's Best Mac & Cheese Ever! With Ham, Peas & Habene

  1. Part 1:.
  2. Melt butter in medium saucepan.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, mustard, cayenne and pepper until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk until smooth.
  5. Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat until thickened (about 10 minutes).
  6. Add ham & peas and Haberneros and Hot Sauce.
  7. Blend together well.
  8. Remove from heat.
  9. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cheese until melted.
  10. ******************** This is where I END my recipe - at the MAXIMUM, Oooey, gooey, yummy, melty goodness.
  11. But SOME people insist I go further.
  12. As long as there are no bread crumbs involved, I'll compromise and continue.
  13. Part 2:.
  14. Combine cheese mixture with macaroni in greased 2 quart casserole.
  15. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  16. Bake in 375 degree oven for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
  17. Like I said, if I'm making this for myself - I only do Part 1 and I strongly suggest everyone give it a try that way too.
  18. You don't know what you're missing!

butter, flour, salt, mustard, cayenne pepper, pepper, milk, cheddar cheese, ham, peas, tabasco sauce, whole wheat elbow macaroni
