Mexican Tamale Pie Recipe

  1. Brown grnd chuck, onion and green pepper.
  2. Drain fat.
  3. Add in next 8 ingredients.
  4. Simmer 20-25 min till thick.
  5. Add in cheese; stir till melted.
  6. Pour in greased 10 x 6 x 1 1/2 inch baking dish.
  7. CORNMEAL TOPPER: Stir cornmeal and 1/2 tsp.
  8. salt into cool water.
  9. Cook and stir till thick.
  10. Add in butter; mix well.
  11. Spoon over meat mix, make 3 lengthwise strips.
  12. Bake casserole at 375 degrees for 40 min or possibly till lightly browned.
  13. Makes approximately 6 servings.
