Low Sodium Lazy Day Soup
- 1 lb sweet Italian turkey sausage
- 1 (16 ounce) bag frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 cup uncooked brown rice
- 5 cups water
- 1 (16 ounce) canof campbells low sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash onion and herb seasoning
- morton's salt substitute
- In a large stew pot add water, broth, and seasonings( not the salt sub.
- yet) set burner to medium and bring to a rolling boil.
- Then add veggies and brown rice and bring burner to low and simmer for 45min.
- In the meantime begin to brown sausage and cook the sausages until completly done.
- Once sausages are done cut them into rounds and add to soup.
- If soup is too thin add about 2 tablespoons of flour ( I recommend whole wheat flour) if soup is too thick add a little more water and a pinch of the salt substitute stir and let simmer for an additional 10 minute.
- serve with cornbread or crackers for a warm and filling meal.
