Country Green Beans and Ham

  1. In a large saucepan, with a lid, over medium heat, add the oil.
  2. Season the ham with black pepper.
  3. Add the ham and cook for 2 minutes on each side.
  4. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add the onions.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Saute for 2 minutes.
  8. Add the reserved ham and beans back to the pan.
  9. Cover the beans completely with water.
  10. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce heat to medium low, partially cover and cook for 2 hours.
  11. Remove from the heat and reseason if necessary
