Wine Jelly
- 2 tablespoons (2 envelopes) unflavored gelatin
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 3 cups claret
- 1/2 cup sweet Madeira
- 1/2 cup strained orange juice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- Soften the gelatin in the cold water.
- In a stainless steel or enamel-coated saucepan heat together, without boiling, the claret, Madeira, and orange juice.
- Dissolve the sugar in the heated liquids.
- Add the softened gelatin and stir to dissolve it also.
- Cool the mixture, pour into a mold, and chill until set.
- Unmold onto a chilled serving platter.
