Cottage Pie
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 lb beef, minced
- 150 ml beef stock
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- salt & pepper
- 1 12 lbs potatoes, cooked &mashed
- 12 ounce butter, cut into small pieces
- Heat the oil in a frying pan.
- Add the onion & fry for 5 minutes.
- Add the beef & fry for 5 mins or until it loses it's pinkness.
- Add the stock,tomato ketchup,worcestershire sauce,herbs,parsley & salt & pepper to taste.
- Cover & simmer for 20 minutes.
- Transfer to a greased ovenproof dish.
- Top with the mashed potatoes & dot over the butter pieces.
- Bake in oven for 30 mins @ 190 degC/375degF or gas mark 5.
