Authentic Italian Tomato Sauce Recipe

  1. Brown the onion and garlic in the extra virgin olive oil and margarine, then add in the grnd sirloin.
  2. Mix well while browning, separating the meat with a fork.
  3. Do this till the meat is well-browned, then add in tomatoes and tomato paste.
  4. Over low heat, add in salt and pepper to taste, basil, sugar, beef bouillon cube, celery salt and bay leaf.
  5. Cook over low heat for about one hour.
  6. Stir occasionally to avoid sticking.
  7. Remove bay leaf before serving.
  8. This recipe yields sauce for 6 servings.
  9. Comments: Reduced-sodium tomatoes, paste and bouillon can be used to lower the amount of sodium.
