Oven French Toast
- 5 lg. eggs, lightly beaten
- 1-1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup cream
- half-and-half
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 8 slices firm, buttered white bread
- 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 tbsp. maple syrup
- honey
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- Butter a 9x13-inch oven-proof glass baking dish.
- Mix eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon.
- Dip bread slices in egg mixture and place in baking dish.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Mix butter, sugar and syrup in a bowl; stir in pecans.
- Spread topping over bread.
- Bake until golden, approximately 40 minutes.
- Serve with preserves, stewed fruit or compote.
