An Apple Cake in a Rice Cooker

  2. Peel and core the apple and slice into 5 mm wedges.

  4. In a skillet, add and mix the sliced apple, sugar, powdered brown sugar, and butter.
  5. Cover and cook over medium heat stirring occasionally.

  7. About 3 minutes later, take off the lid and cook over low to medium heat for about 5 minutes while stirring.
  8. Once the liquid evaporates, turn off the heat.
  9. In a bowl, combine the pancake mix, egg, sugar, and milk and mix with a whisk.
  10. Cut the butter into small pieces and place it in a microwave-safe container.
  11. Melt it in a microwave at 600W for about 30 seconds.
  12. Add it to the Step 4 batter.
  13. Wipe the remaining butter off the microwave-safe container from Step 5 with your hand, and spread it onto the bottom and bottom half of the sides of the rice cooker pan.
  14. In the rice cooker pan, add the liquid from the stewed apple from Step 3.
  15. Place the stewed apple on top of the juice in a spiral pattern.
  16. If there is any liquid remaining in the skillet, pour it over the stewed apple.
  17. Place the apples so the edges come up the sides of the pan a little.
  18. This way, the side of the cake will be covered with the stewed apples and look nice.
  19. Gently pour the batter from Step 5 into the Step 8 pan, and press the rice cooker switch.
  20. ( Be careful not to move the stewed apples that you aligned.)
  21. Cook it for 35 minutes, and open the lid a little to see if the cake is done.
  22. If it looks fluffy and ready, turn off the switch earlier.
  23. When you open the lid, please be careful as very hot steam comes out.
  24. Turn off the switch and leave it with the cover closed for about 10 minutes.
  25. Wear an oven mitten and take the rice cooker pan out.
  26. Cover the pan with a large plate, flip them over to remove the cake from the pan.
