Pear Honey Fig Butter Recipe katycuneo
- 5 ripe pears (whatever variety suits your fancy - I had Bartlett) peeled, cored, roughly chopped
- 1 cup fresh figs (skins on) roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup honey (more or less depending on sweetness of fruit)
- Juice from 1/2 a medium sized lemon
- 1/3 cup water
- Add all of the listed ingredients in a heavy sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook until liquid has evaporated and mixture has reduced.
- Fruit will begin to break down and juices will be thick and sticky.
- Remove from heat and puree mixture in small batches until smooth, returning puree to sauce pan.
- Simmer to further reduce if not thick enough; otherwise, ladle into jars and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
