French Apple Tarts

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. For pastry, combine muffin mix and flour in a medium bowl.
  3. Place cream cheese and butter in large bowl.
  4. Beat on low speed until blended.
  5. Add dry ingredients and beat at low speed until combined.
  6. Shape dough into 24 1 1/2 inch balls and press into the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased muffin tin.
  7. Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes.
  8. For filling, combine apples and 3 tbsp butter in a large saucepan.
  9. Add water, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon swirl packet and crumb topping packet.Cook and stir on medium heat until tender.
  10. To assemble, fill each warm pastry shell with 2 tbsp filling.
  11. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until bubbly.
  12. Cool in pans for 5-10 minutes.
  13. Loosen sides with thin knife or spatula; remove from pan.
  14. Serve warm or can cool on wire racks.
